Thirteen years after they first met, Brittni and Alex tied the knot in the most meaningful way: surrounded by their closest loved ones during an intimate estate wedding in Tofino. Originally toying with the idea of eloping abroad, they eventually felt a pull to gather their immediate family under one roof. The result? A laid-back, heart-filled weekend on Vancouver Island that perfectly reflected their story.

Their venue—a private homestead nestled on the rugged coast of Tofino—offered sweeping ocean views, lush old-growth surroundings, and a welcoming backyard that became the heart of the celebration. “We wanted a place where our nieces and nephews could run around barefoot, and the adults could stay up late talking by the fire,” Brittni shared. “When we found the homestead in Tofino, we knew it was the right venue for our Pacific Northwest estate wedding: nature forward, intimate but also casually elegant.”
The ceremony took place in the backyard, with views of the water peeking through the trees, soft coastal light pouring in, and a feeling that time had slowed down just for them. The simplicity of the setting allowed the love between Brittni and Alex—and the presence of their family—to be the true centerpiece.
As a Tofino wedding photographer, I live for days like this. There’s something so magical about couples choosing to do things their own way—letting go of tradition, and leaning fully into what feels meaningful. From candid family hugs on the deck to sunset portraits near the cliffs, every moment felt effortless and full of love.
