There’s something truly magical about a sunrise session – the world feels quieter, the air is fresh, and the light has this soft, golden glow that you can’t quite get any other time of day. For this couple’s sunrise session at Spanish Banks in Vancouver, we had the beach almost entirely to ourselves. The combination of ocean, mountains, and that warm first light made for an unforgettable morning.

While sunset sessions are popular, sunrise has its own kind of magic. Here’s why I love photographing couples at Spanish Banks first thing in the morning:
Spanish Banks is one of my favorite spots in Vancouver for engagement sessions, elopements, and even post-wedding portraits. With its expansive sandy beach and views of the North Shore Mountains, it’s a backdrop that feels timeless.

We started just as the sun peeked over the horizon, the sky painted in pinks and soft oranges. The couple strolled along the shoreline and by late morning, the light shifted into a warmer tone, adding depth and texture to every shot.

Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement, a full wedding, or a romantic engagement session, Spanish Banks offers one of the most beautiful natural settings in Vancouver. I’d love to help you plan your dream session — early morning or golden hour.
